7 Tips for lawn care safety this season

Updated: Aug 28, 2021

Please be safe when mowing this season! #happymowing

Here’s how to do it:

  1. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES when using equipment. Your eyesight is priceless so invest in a good quality pair of safety glasses that will protect your eyesight from all angles. You have no idea how many times that I have been weed whacking and a rock has hit the dead center of the lens. My safety glasses have saved my eye on countless occasions. I prefer echo safety glasses. (link below)

  2. Always carry a first aid kit. No matter how many precautions we take accidents are still going to happen. They are very cheap and can be bought from almost anywhere.

  3. Always read the owners manual before operating equipment. It is crucial you know how to properly use your equipment before starting it up for the first time. Each year across the United States, 6,394 people, on average, sustain serious injuries — including burns, cuts and broken bones — in lawn-mower accidents, according to a new study from Johns Hopkins researchers, published in the journal Public Health Reports”. Don't be part of the statistics people !

  4. WEAR THE PROPER FOOTWEAR. Do not attempt to mow your lawn bare foot or in your in your flip flops. I can't say how many times I've seen this, too many to count. You can easily slip and run over your own feet, and now you will have no choice but to invest in a robotic lawn mower. Please do yourself a favor and get some steel toe boots! For less than $100 you don't have to worry about losing your feet. Timberland pit boss steel toe are a great choice extremely comfortable and lightweight.

  5. Always turn the mower off when refueling. The mower needs to be shut off completely before refueling.

  6. If your lawn mower blades need to be sharpened take it to a professional. Improper handling of your lawn blades can lead to some pretty severe cuts on your fingers.

  7. WEAR PROPER HEARING PROTECTION, try to get noise cancelling headphones if you can. Wouldn't you rather hear music instead of a screaming mower anyway?
